Your First Lash Extension Appointment

Your first lash extension appointment is easier than it sounds, and it works the same way for every style, whether you choose classic, hybrid, volume, or one of my specialty looks. I’m Julia, a lash artist in Vancouver, WA, and the question I hear most often before getting lash extensions for the first time is simple: what will happen at my appointment?
Below you will find how to prepare, what happens during the visit, and what to do afterward. The quick table shows the steps in order, and the details follow it. You can also see all my lash extension services in Vancouver, WA on one page.

Before Your Visit: Free Consultation
Your first step is a free 15-minute call. We choose the style, length and curl together, and I answer your questions before you book. Not sure which look suits you? See my guide to classic vs hybrid vs volume lashes. You can also read more about my classic lash extensions in Vancouver, WA.
Come with clean lashes, without mascara and without oils or creams close to the lash line on your eyelids. Oils weaken the adhesive, so a clean start helps your set last.
I match the thickness and length of every extension to your natural lash, so the set never feels heavy.
During Your Visit: How Long It Takes
During your visit you lie comfortably with your eyes closed while I work. I isolate each natural lash and attach an extension to it, so your set is built lash by lash.
The length of the visit depends on your set: about 1 hour 30 minutes for Natural Classic, 2 hours for Soft Hybrid and Wet Effect, 2 hours 30 minutes for Glam Volume and 3 hours for Arabic Volume. A first full set is the longest visit, because I build every lash from the start.
If you like a natural look with extra fullness, see my hybrid lash extensions in Vancouver, WA.
After Your Visit: What to Do Next
In the first hours after your visit, do not wet your lashes, because the adhesive needs time to fully set. After that you can wash them as usual with a gentle, oil-free lash cleanser. Avoid mascara and any oils on your lashes.
I give you a lash brush so you can gently brush your lashes and correct their direction at home. For the full routine, read my guide on how to care for lash extensions, and see how long lash extensions last to plan your refills.
I recommend a refill every 2 to 3 weeks, and no later than 3 weeks after your last visit. Not sure what you need? Book a free 15-minute consultation with me. You can read more on my volume lash extensions in Vancouver, WA page.
